What Happens in Your First Class
You’re not walking into a demo or a watered-down version of a real class — you’re training alongside our actual students, from day one. An instructor will pair you with someone at your pace, walk you through the fundamentals, and make sure you’re never lost or overwhelmed. Most people who show up for a free class have never done jiu-jitsu before, so you won’t be the only beginner in the room.
Adult classes run about an hour. Youth classes run around forty-five minutes. Plan to arrive ten minutes early so you have time to sign in and meet your instructor before class starts.
What to Wear and What to Bring
Wear snug-fitting athletic attire that’s stretchy and comfortable — think what you’d wear to a workout class. We’ll provide a kimono for you to borrow for your trial, so you don’t need to buy anything before you know if this is for you.
If you decide to join, we’ll help you get your own SDA-approved kimono.
